Certificates & Testing

Third-party test reports for nickel release, coating adhesion and social compliance.

Claims about safety and compliance are only worth what the paperwork behind them is worth. Below are the reports we currently hold, what each one actually tests, and what it does not cover.

SGS — nickel release

Tested to EN 1811, the European reference method for nickel release from items intended to come into direct and prolonged contact with the skin. Relevant for earrings, rings and anything worn daily. The limit for post-assembly items is 0.5 µg/cm²/week.

CTT — coating adhesion and wear

Two reports covering plating adhesion and abrasion resistance on our sterling and gold-plated lines. These tests are the reason we can say a plated piece will not flake in normal wear — although no plating lasts forever, and we re-plate at cost when it eventually wears.

SMETA — social compliance

A 4-pillar SMETA audit covering labour standards, health and safety, environment and business ethics at the Wuzhou site. It is an audit, not a certification: it records what an auditor found on a given date, including the points we were asked to improve.

GRA and IGI — the stones

Moissanite ships with a GRA card stating the measurements, color and clarity grade. Lab-grown diamonds can be supplied with an IGI report on request — tell us at quote stage, because the stone has to be selected with the certificate in mind, not after it is set.

REPORT 01
What is the difference between moissanite and lab-grown diamond?+

Moissanite is silicon carbide with more fire and slightly less hardness (9.25 vs 10). A lab-grown diamond is a diamond, grown from carbon, and behaves identically to a mined one.

Do your stones come with certificates?+

Moissanite ships with a GRA card. Lab-grown diamonds can be supplied with an IGI report on request — tell us at quote stage, because the stone must be selected with the certificate.

Are lab-grown diamonds real diamonds?+

Yes. Same crystal lattice, same hardness, same thermal conductivity. Only a laboratory with spectroscopy can distinguish origin, which is what the certificate documents.

Will moissanite turn cloudy?+

No. CZ clouds; moissanite does not. A dull moissanite is dirty — warm water, washing-up liquid and a soft brush restores it.

Can I buy a loose stone without a setting?+

Yes, and we will match pairs by hand if you need earrings. Loose stones are final sale once shipped.

Do you sell mined diamonds?+

On request. We will quote a natural stone honestly, including the fact that the appearance difference versus a well-cut lab stone is minimal.

What size stone should I choose?+

For an engagement ring, 6.5–7.5 mm is the practical sweet spot. Specify millimeters rather than carats, especially when matching an existing piece.

Can you match a stone to one I already have?+

Yes. Send a daylight photograph and the millimeter size and we will match the tint and cut as closely as the parcel allows.

What we do not claim

We do not claim to be carbon neutral, we do not claim "conflict-free" as a blanket statement about every parcel of melee we buy, and we do not claim our plating is permanent. What we can prove is what is on this page. If a specific test report matters to your purchase, ask for the PDF and we will send the full document rather than a thumbnail.
